polished stainless steel (2022)
A nine-metre diameter circle of 52 reflective stainless steel rods stuck in the ground marks an open dividing line to the surrounding cultural landscape, which is characterized by horticulture, leisure architecture and agriculture.
The flora and fauna within the circle remain uncontrolled and the area is left to its own devices. Depending on the weather and time of year, a wilderness sprawls, the plants wither or a blanket of snow covers the ground. The landscape outside the border is maintained.
A stainless steel plaque is embedded in the ground in each of the four cardinal points:
NOTHING IS DONE HERE. NOTHING IS SOWN, NOTHING IS PLANTED, NOTHING IS WATERED. THERE IS NO HARVESTING. THERE IS NO MOWING, NO SPRAYING, NO RAKING AND THERE WON’T BE ANY TRAPS.
